Advising

I am interested in how policies and historical events influence economic development. My research often uses microdata from individuals, households, firms, and other organizations in developing countries. Students at the University of Tsukuba, particularly master's students in the Program in Economic and Public Policy (PEPP), who are interested in collaborating, are welcome to email me directly with their research proposals. To avoid being mistaken for phishing attempts, please use your University of Tsukuba email address.

My current student is:

  • Quyen Thi Mai (PEPP 2027),
  • Keigo Ishida (ISS 2027).

Prospective students interested in our master's program (PEPP) should apply directly through the official application portal. For various reasons, I am unable to assist with the admissions process and do not provide recommendations for the MEXT scholarship. Therefore, please do not contact me regarding applications.

Also, I do not accept research or Ph.D. students, except when I already know the student well.
